TENNESSEE LAWMAKERS PROPOSE WORD “ALIEN” BE ADDED TO NON-RESIDENT ID’S
Two Tennessee lawmakers have proposed a bill which would include the words “alien” or “non-U.S. Citizen” be placed on ID’s issued to those that do not have permanent residency status. Gov. Bill Haslam has announced his concerns over the bill proposed by Rep. John Ragan of Oak Ridge and Sen. Ed Jackson of Jackson. Haslam is worried about the impact of such an issue since Tennessee is second only to California in it’s highest level of foreign direct investment of Japan. And Volkswagen and Nissan have huge plants, along with supplier outlets, located within the state.
