TENNESSEE MAN ACC– USED OF KILLING SON TO UNDERGO MENTAL EVALUATION

Joseph Daniels, the Dickson County father accused of killing his 5-year-old son, is set to undergo a mental-health evaluation.

Daniels has been moved to Riverbend Maximum Security Prison in Nashville for “safekeeping.” According to his public defender, other inmates were threatening him with death.

An order filed by his lawyer, Jake Lockert, requests a forensic evaluation on Daniels to find out if he’s competent to stand trial. It also will determine what his mental condition was at the time he allegedly killed Joe Clyde Daniels and hid his body in a remote wooded area.

Daniels allegedly confessed to beating his autistic son to death. The child’s remains have not yet been found, despite searches by countless volunteers and even a professional team from Texas.

Daniels reportedly has been committed to mental-health facilities twice in the past.

He is facing several charges, including first-degree murder. Joe Clyde’s mother, Krystal Daniels, also faces several charges, including criminal responsibility and aggravated child neglect.
