TENNESSEE MAN ACCUSED OF STABBING WIFE, SETTING HOME ON FIRE

DICKSON, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Tennessee man is accused of stabbing his wife, dousing her with gasoline and setting their home on fire on Monday night, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The TBI said the domestic incident occurred in the 1200 block of North Charlotte Street in Dickson. First responders were called to the home in response to a house fire.

Authorities found the woman inside the home with multiple stab wounds. During the investigation, agents determined that 28-year-old Zachary Mowel is allegedly responsible for the attack and arson.

The woman was taken to a hospital in Nashville where she remains hospitalized.

Mowel was charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated arson, aggravated assault, and domestic assault. He was booked in the Dickson County Jail on a $765,000 bond.

“The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence,” TBI said. “The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law.”
