A recent study finds that Tennessee is on the bottom tier when it comes to the most and least educated states in the nation. The website WalletHub says that Tennessee is below-average when it comes to education, ranking the eight least educated states in America. Researchers say the report is based on a number of things including the U.S. Census, Dept. of Education and the National Center for Educational Statistics. They also observe qualities involving public schools and universities. States receiving lower marks than Tennessee include Louisiana, West Virginia and Mississippi. The best three states were Massachusetts, Maryland and Connecticut.
