TENNESSEE RENTERS ASKING FOR END TO RENT PRICE HIKES

Renters across Tennessee are pushing for more affordable housing and tenants’ rights.

Members of Tennessee for Safe Homes are asking lawmakers to introduce bills removing barriers that prevent more affordable housing and help protect renters.

The group will ask Tennessee lawmakers to sign an open letter calling for federal renter protections, including limiting rent hikes, repair requirements, and tenant protections from retaliation in federally subsidized housing complexes.

Renters are encouraging lawmakers to support bills that would help build more affordable housing.

The group will meet with their elected representatives today at noon at the State Capitol.
