TENNESSEE REPRESENTATIVE BELIEVES IT’S TIME TO KEEP DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME YEAR-ROUND

A Tennessee lawmaker believes that it’s time to keep the state on Daylight Savings Time year-round. A bill to do just that has been filed by Rep. Rick Tillis, a Republican from Lewisburg. Tillis said if passed into law, the change would go into effect in May 2019. So, there would be one more “fall back” before Tennessee would officially “spring forward” — and stay there. Tillis said he’s had overwhelming support from his constituents and the public. He said several lawmakers have filed or are planning on filing similar legislation. Tillis said the reasons why Daylight Saving Time was first introduced are now outdated.
