TENNESSEE REPUBLICAN LAWMAKERS DRAFTING PROPOSED MEDICAL MARIJUANA BILL

Two Tennessee lawmakers are proposing legislation that would involve the legalization of medical marijuana in the state. Sen. Janice Bowling of Tullahoma and Rep. Ron Travis of Dayton, both Republicans, are drafting the proposal and will be introducing the bill in a few weeks. In the proposal, a new commission would be drafted to regulate the marijuana industry and allow patients who have been diagnosed with certain illnesses to purchase the medical drug through licensed dispensaries. It’s not the first time such legislation has been proposed but Bowling and Travis say that the draft will contain a mixture of medical marijuana strategies which have worked in other states. They also state that the proposal will be “substantially different” from those bills which came before.
