TENNESSEE SENATE TO CONSIDER SCHOOL SPANKING BILL

The Tennessee Senate will vote today on a bill that would ban the spanking of disabled children at public schools. The bill, which already passed in the House and is up for a vote in the Senate, would prohibit school officials from spanking students with disabilities, unless their parents give written approval. A report from the state Comptroller’s office last month determined disabled children in schools in Tennessee in recent years were spanked more frequently than their non-disabled school mates.
