TEST SHOWS NO DANGER AT SWAN POND SPORTS COMPLEX IN ROANE COUNTY

A state investigation shows there is now less than 1 percent of coal ash in the soil at the Swan Pond Sports Complex near the Kingston Fossil Plant in Roane County. Joe George with the Tennessee Department of Health said that to the Roane County Commission’s Environmental Review Board in a meeting last night. Officials say that percentage poses no threat or health risk to children playing there and recommended the park re-open. Roane County closed the park after several clean-up workers of the ash spill there back in 2008 became sick. Some of the workers died from complications.
