THEFT REPORTED FROM ROCKWOOD HOME

A resident of Ashburn Drive in Rockwood contacted Cumberland County deputies to say he suspects his son and the son’s girlfriend of theft in the disappearance of several items from his late wife’s closet.

Two weeks earlier, he had allowed his son and the girlfriend to stay the night at his home; he told the girlfriend she could go into the closet to take some of his late wife’s clothing and shoes.

Late that night, the homeowner awakened because he was cold; on investigating, he discovered the front door wide open and the son and his girlfriend nowhere to be found.

The homeowner did not discover the items missing until this past Friday. Stolen items include a bar of silver, multiple gold and silver coins, dozens of Case pocket knives, three diamond rings, a set of silver rings, 20 to 25 women’s hats and approximately 15 purses. Total estimated value of the stolen items is in excess of $23,500. An investigation is underway.
