Authorities are investigating the scene of a fatal accident at the base of the mountain on US Highway 127, just north of Pikeville. The driver of an 18-wheeler hauling a load of stone, heading south, apparently lost control of her truck, taking out several feet of guardrail, dumping her load and finally coming to a rest against a tree. The woman and a dog in the cab were both found deceased at the scene.

THP is investigating, assisted by the Bledsoe County Sheriff’s Department.
