THREATS AGAINST TN SCHOOLS BY STUDENTS ON THE RISE

More school threats are being reported after three juveniles were arrested last week in Oak Ridge for making online threats against the Oak Ridge High School.

Two students in Cocke County are accused of making threats against Smoky Mountain Elementary School this week.

According to an incident report, witnesses said threats were directed at students as well as a threat to “shoot the school up.” Smoky Mountain Elementary School is a K-8 school. Both suspects are underage, and they are facing charges including terrorist threats, intimidation, and threatening mass violence on school property. The two were taken into custody Tuesday.

On Wednesday, a Maury County Schools confirmed that a student made a threat toward Culleoka Unit School.  Officials said at no time no students were in danger.

According to Maury County Public Schools, the incident has been contained at Culleoka Unit School. On Thursday, the school is operating normally “with expanded coverage of the Maury County Sheriff’s Department.”
