THREE FOUND DEAD IN ROANE COUNTY OVER 24 HOURS

Over the past 24 hours, law enforcement and emergency services in Roane County have responded to multiple incidents.

Last night, following a National Night Out event, a TWRA official, Roane County Sheriff’s deputies, and an ambulance were dispatched to a lake access area behind the Kingston Steam Plant off Sugar Grove Valley Road. A neighbor reported an unattended boat and found 33-year-old Jerry Clawson unresponsive inside. Despite CPR efforts, Clawson was pronounced dead. An autopsy at Roane Medical Center determined a blood clot as the cause of death.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a body found at 645 Clax Gap Road, Harriman. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) took over as the lead investigator, remaining on the scene into the early afternoon. The body was transported to the Knoxville Forensic Center for an autopsy. Chief Deputy Tim Phillips stated that further details are pending additional interviews.

Additionally, an 80-year-old man, named Buddy Marsh, was found deceased in the water in the 500 block of New Hope Road, east of Rockwood. The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation, with more information to be released as it becomes available from the Roane County Sheriff’s Department.
