THREE VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON I-40 LEAVES TWO INJURED

A three vehicle accident on Interstate 40 in eastern Putnam County, Tennessee yesterday afternoon resulted in two injuries. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2008 Nissan Altima driven by 46-year-old Aubrey Murphy of Monterey, Tennessee was traveling east in slow traffic at the 295 mile marker when he rear-ended a 2016 Dodge Journey driven by 54-year-old Alexander Vostrov of Stonybrook, New York. Murphy’s vehicle came to rest then started to roll back and hit a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 33-year-old Jacob Heyn of St. Joseph, Michigan. Troopers say at some point after the initial impact, Murphy’s vehicle caught fire. Murphy, along with an unnamed passenger in Vostrov’s vehicle, were transported to Cookeville Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained. Troopers say Murphy was cited for driving on a suspended license, following too close for conditions and driving without proof of insurance.
