A major power outage on the plateau occurred yesterday afternoon as storms passed through. at one point around 20,000 VEC customers were without power and several cell phone providers reported communication interruptions. VEC reported that several major substations had been hit by lightning.

Then once the power got turned back on…the Plateau was hit with a sudden tornado warning which included White and Cumberland Counties. The tornado was radar indicated but no touchdowns were reported during the hour or so the storm passed through.
