Tim Curry, the versatile British actor renowned for his iconic performances in both comedic and villainous roles across film, television, and stage, has passed away at the age of 80, according to reports. TMZ first broke the news.

Born in the U.K. in 1946, Curry achieved immortal status for playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Over a celebrated career spanning decades, he showcased extraordinary range, starring as the butler Wadsworth in 1985’s Clue, Rooster Hannigan in 1982’s Annie, Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island, and the terrifying Pennywise the Clown in the 1990 miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s It.

A prolific stage actor, Curry earned three Tony nominations and two Laurence Olivier Award nominations, starring in major productions from the West End to Broadway, including originating the role of King Arthur in Spamalot. He was also an acclaimed voice actor and recording artist, winning a Daytime Emmy Award in 1991.

After surviving a major stroke in 2012 that required the use of a wheelchair, Curry shifted his focus primarily to voiceover projects while remaining a beloved and deeply respected figure in the entertainment industry.
