TIRED OF BEING HOMELESS, CROSSVILLE MAN STEALS FROM WALMART
On Tuesday, September 27, Crossville Police officers were dispatched for a report of a shoplifter at Walmart. The subject was found in the parking lot with items worth over $1,200. John Barnwell, age 32, stated he took the items so that he could be taken to jail because he was tired of being high, cold, hungry, and homeless.
When searching the subject, officers found meth in aluminum foil and a pocket knife. Barnwell admitted that the knife was stolen and he intended to use the knife for thefts. He was also banned from Crossville Walmart on 7/20/2013 and then later banned from all Walmart locations.
Barnwell was transported to intake for booking, where he was charged with Theft of Merchandise, Burglary, and Criminal Trespass. He also had a hold placed on him by Roane County.
