TN TECH ALUM AND ASTRONAUT BARRY WILMORE TO LEAD 2025 HOMECOMING PARADE
On Saturday, November 1, 2025, Tennessee Tech University’s homecoming parade will be led by grand marshal Barry “Butch” Wilmore, a distinguished alumnus, university trustee, and retired NASA astronaut who recently gained fame for his nine-month stay at the International Space Station.
Wilmore, a former Tech football player, will also attend the homecoming football game against Gardner-Webb University at noon in Tucker Stadium, as the undefeated Golden Eagles continue their 12-game winning streak. The university will honor Wilmore on Friday, October 31, at 2 p.m., with the dedication of “Wilmore Way,” a new pedestrian walkway and plaza named for him, reflecting his embodiment of Tech’s core values, as noted by President Phil Oldham.
The 2025 homecoming theme, “Tech on Broadway,” will feature a parade watch party at 8 a.m. in the Varsity Building, with the parade starting at 9 a.m. along Dixie Avenue. Various alumni reunion events will also occur throughout the weekend, with details available at www.tntech.edu/AlumniEvents.
