TODDLER DIES AFTER BEING SWEPT AWAY IN TENNESSEE CREEK

A missing toddler found in a creek yesterday in Washington County, Tennessee, has died. The mother reported the toddler missing around 1 p.m., and the two-year-old was found three quarters of a mile away in a creek off Ford Creek Road. Deputies said the creek ran in front of the mother’s house. First responders attempted CPR and took the child to Holston Valley Medical Center, where the toddler died.

“Everybody needs to be extra cautious right now, the creeks are all high, you know we’re expecting more rain, they are already high and moving swift, you know they need to watch their kids, watch your pets, adults, I mean an adult could have gotten swept up in this creek,” Washington County chief deputy Leighta Laitinen said.

No charges have been filed, but Laitinen said the investigation is ongoing. The name of the child was not released by authorities.
