A tractor-trailer accident in Cumberland County early this afternoon (Tuesday, August 22, 2017) resulted in no injuries but created a traffic pileup for nearly two hours. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2009 International driven by 33-year-old Jorge Moreira of McMinnville, Tennessee was traveling east near the 319 mile marker when he attempted to merge into the fast lane. Moreira then realize another vehicle was in that lane and served back into the lane he was traveling in. Moreira then lost control of the tractor-trailer. The rig came to rest with the cab in the median and the trailer blocking the left lane of the interstate. Traffic was backed up for four miles at one point. That resulted in heavier traffic on North Main Street, Interstate Drive and Northside Drive in Crossville during the accident cleanup.
