Power was knocked out to hundreds of VEC customers in Cumberland County following a vehicle accident early this afternoon on Dartmoor Drive at Peavine Road. Troopers say a 2019 Freightliner operated by 65-year-old Ricky Lewis of Crossville was traveling east when the vehicle caught a low hanging telephone line. As a result, two power poles were brought down. No injuries reported involving Lewis and a passenger, 53-year-old James Thomas of Cookeville. Volunteer Energy Cooperative crews responded to the scene to replace the poles and restore power.
