A tractor-trailer accident yesterday on I-40 in Cumberland County resulted in traffic backups for a few hours.

The report released today from the highway patrol states a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 32-year-old Harpreet Singh was hit by another tractor-trailer that did not stop at the 316 eastbound mile marker.

The Freightliner left the interstate, hit the guardrail, and went down an embankment. It came to rest after striking multiple trees.

Singh was not hurt in the crash.

Traffic was backed up at one point at the crash scene for a few miles.
