TRACTOR-TRAILER DRIVER ESCAPES INJURY ON I-40 EAST OF CRAB ORCHARD

A driver escaped injury Monday after a tractor-trailer he was operating turned on its side on I-40 in Cumberland County.

The report released today by the Tennessee Highway Patrol states a 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer operated by 48-year-old Mehmet Alagpz of New Jersey and a 2005 Toyota Camry driven by 49-year-old Courtaney Marie Godwin were traveling east at the 331-mile marker.

The Volvo was negotiating a curve when the trailer began not tracking behind it.

Godwin took evasive action when the trailer came into her lane. She left the interstate, into the median, and struck a boulder.

The tractor-trailer turned over on its side on the interstate and came to a rest.

Troopers say neither driver sustained injuries in the accident.
