TRAFFIC BACKUPS WILL CONTINUE ON I-40 EASTBOUND IN CUMBERLAND CO.
Crews with the Tennessee Department of Transportation continue to work to repair a bridge in I-40 at the 328 mile marker eastbound over Highway 70. Traffic is down to one lane creating heavy traffic backups for motorists going east. Delays can and should be expected daily and a completion date was not released. TDOT says tractor trailer loads wider than 16 feet should seek an alternate route. A detour route of taking the Peavine Road exit (Exit 322), turning right and then left at the 4-way stop onto Highway 70 East can be used to get back on I-40 in Crab Orchard. Be advised just before you get into Crab Orchard, underneath the bridge being worked on is down to one lane.
Westbound traffic at the scene on I-40 is running normal.
