TRAFFIC STOP YIELDS DUI ARREST IN ROANE COUNTY

Early Sunday evening, Roane County deputies stopped 39-year-old Holly Turner, who was traveling at a high rate of speed along Highway 27. She told them she was trying to get back to Chattanooga and didn’t know the way. She claimed to have gone to a shop “to buy some Medical Assistant items” and displayed a spray-bottle product and a flask containing what smelled like an alcoholic beverage.

When asked if she had taken any medication because she seemed to be under the influence of some type of substance, she said no. However, she performed poorly on field sobriety tasks. After placing her under arrest, the deputy asked if she was willing to give a blood sample, to determine what was in her system. At first she agreed, but later refused, because, according to the report, she was “going to jail anyways.” No blood was drawn.

She did state she had last her medication around 8:00 the night before.

Turner was charged with DUI and taken to Roane County jail without incident.
