TRAIN DERAILMENT RESULTS IN EVACUATION NOTICE IN MORGAN COUNTY
In Morgan County, Tennessee, the Sheriff’s Office is responding to a train derailment that occurred around 4 p.m. today in the Lancing area near Shady Grove Road.
According to Sheriff Rick Hamby, four to five cars came off the tracks.
As a precaution, authorities issued an evacuation notice for a half-mile radius around the site, affecting specific addresses including portions of Emory Heights (125-993), Homestead (126-598), Broken Antler (262-430), Lazy Bear (308-441), Shady Grove (920-1075), and Thomas Drive (215-772).
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is working to obtain the bill of lading from Norfolk Southern to determine the train’s cargo.
