A trial date has been set by Roane County Criminal Court Judge Jeff Wicks for 25-year-old Breanna Runions. She is charged with the murder of 4-year-old Evangaline Gunter.

Runions also faces aggravated child neglect, felony reckless endangerment with a weapon, and two counts of aggravated child abuse.

The incident happened at a home on Airport Road on August 27, 2023.

Authorities say Runions brought out a 9mm firearm, called Gunter over to her, and then shot her in the chest. A girlfriend of Runions and another child were in the same room but didn’t witness the shooting.
