TRIAL TO START FOR JOEL GUY ACCUSED OF DISMEMBERING HIS PARENTS IN KNOX COUNTY

Joel Guy, accused of dismembering his parents in a Knox County home, filed a motion to represent himself. Guy said the reason was to present a motion before the judge to receive the death penalty. The motion was denied as the district attorney’s office is not seeking the death penalty.

Guy was indicted by a Knox County grand jury on two counts each of first-degree murder, abusing a corpse and felony murder.

He stands accused in the deaths of 61-year-old Joel Michael Guy, Sr. and 55-year-old Lisa Guy, at their west Knox County home in November 2016. Investigators said both suffered vicious stab wounds, as well as dismemberment. Their remains were found in multiple rooms in the house.

Jury selection in the case starts today (September 24, 2020) and the trial is expected to last around a week.
