TRIP TO HOSPITAL TURNS INTO TRIP TO JAIL

Crossville Police were dispatched to 127 North near Wholesale Carpet Tuesday for reports of a man walking, unsteady on his feet.

Once police arrived, the man was identified as 19-year-old Dillon Dehart.  Dehart told police he had been taking acid, was ‘tripping’ and wanted to be taken to the hospital because he didn’t feel right.  The officer called EMS to the scene.  Dehart was placed in the ambulance for transporting to the hospital.

As the ambulance was about to pull out of the parking lot, Dehart jumped out of the ambulance and took off running.  The officer chased Dehart, grabbed him and took him to the ground. Dehart fought the officer and the EMS paramedics as they struggled to get the man into the patrol car. Dehart was finally put in the cruiser and taken to the Justice Center.

He was charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest and public intoxication.
