TROOPERS INVESTIGATE DOUBLE FATALITY CRASH ON I-40 IN ROANE COUNTY

The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated a double fatality vehicle crash on I-40 in Roane County late last night (Saturday, August 8, 2020). Trooper Matthew Armes says a 2019 Dodge Charger driven by 52-year-old Clinton Campbell of Hampton, Tennessee struck a 2011 Harley Davidson operated by 47-year-old William Daniels of Portland, Tennessee while both were heading east at the 351 mile marker. The impact resulted in Daniels and a passenger on the motorcycle, 34-year-old Sylvia Lane, being ejected. The Charger overturned and came to rest. Debris from both the car and motorcycle struck a 2019 Harley Davidson which was stationary on the side of the interstate and unoccupied. Daniels and Lane passed away from their injuries. Campbell was injured and troopers say charges are pending against him.
