A vehicle accident last night in Putnam County claimed the life of a woman. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a 1998 Mercury Sable driven by 46-year-old Karen Madewell of Cookeville was traveling south on Highway 111 at Quinland Lake Road when she hit a 2008 Lincoln operated by 46-year-old James Jensen of McMinnville. The impact caused Madewell’s vehicle to spin clockwise, go off the highway and over an embankment. The passenger side of her vehicle struck a tree and came to a rest facing westbound wrapped around the tree. Madewell passed away from injuries sustained. Jenson was not hurt.
