TWO ARRESTED IN CROSSVILLE AFTER BUC-EE’S SHOPLIFTING SPREE UNCOVERS DRUGS AND ‘HELLO KITTY’ BONG
What began as a routine shoplifting call at a local Buc-ee’s ended in felony drug charges for two Virginia women heading home from a music festival.
On June 15, 2026, Crossville Police responded to the Buc-ee’s located at Genesis Road after store management reported a theft in progress. Responding officers blocked in the suspects’ red Mazda SUV at gas pump 242.
According to the police narrative, the driver, 27-year-old Sarah Mosher of Richmond, Virginia, initially claimed she had receipts for her items but could not produce them. She quickly confessed to stealing merchandise, which included a Buc-ee’s Snuggie, beef jerky, and the logo socks she was wearing at the time of her arrest. Store surveillance later revealed she had also stolen a variety fudge pack, a breakfast sandwich, and a large fountain drink, totaling $87.58 in stolen goods.
The situation escalated when Mosher consented to a vehicle search, warning officers they would find marijuana and “molly” (MDMA) inside.
A search of the packed SUV yielded:
-
11.34 grams of marijuana hidden in a purple duffle bag on the roof rack.
-
A red marijuana grinder and a glass “Hello Kitty” bong.
-
5.46 grams of a clear, crystallized powder testing positive for MDMA, located inside a purple backpack in the hatch.
Upon seeing officers pull the narcotics from her vehicle, Mosher reportedly stated, “I am screwed.”
While Mosher was being detained, a second suspect—identified as 26-year-old Marisol Rodriguez of Charlottesville, Virginia—was spotted by officers across the parking lot. Though Rodriguez initially denied wrongdoing, she eventually admitted to shoplifting a 2026 FIFA World Cup lanyard and a matching magnet, totaling $13.96.
Both women were taken into custody and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center.
Mosher faces charges of theft of merchandise, simple possession of Schedule I (MDMA), simple possession of Schedule VI (marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rodriguez was charged with theft of merchandise. All recovered store items were returned to Buc-ee’s management, and the narcotics were logged into evidence.
