TWO ARRESTED IN CUMBERLAND CO. AFTER STOLEN VEHICLE DISCOVERED
Two face a charge of theft of property after Cumberland County deputies pulled over a 2005 Buick LeSabre yesterday on Highway 70 North. The officer first ran the plate that came back to a different vehicle then ran the vin on the car that came back stolen from Jefferson County, Indiana. The correct tag was later found in the Buick. A passenger in the vehicle, 21-year-old Matthew Edward Rector of Crossville, reportedly told the officer he paid $200 for the Buick from a friend in White County. Rector and the driver, 26-year-old Haley Brianna Smith of Jamestown, both denied knowing the vehicle was stolen. Both were taken to the Cumberland County jail.
