TWO CHARGED AFTER DRIVING WITHOUT LICENSE AND METH IN VEHICLE

Cumberland County deputies conducted a traffic stop off Ashburn Drive last Friday.  When speaking with the driver and the passenger, neither had any identification on them. After getting their names and social security numbers, the deputy was able to confirm their identities. While asking for the registration, the passenger identified as Justin Cox, asked to step out and see if it was under the seat. When the deputy went around to the passenger side, he observed Cox acting nervous.

The driver, identified as Daniel Ester told the deputy he did not have a valid driver’s license. The deputy asked to search the vehicle, to which Ester consented, according to the report. On the passenger side, a bag believed to be marijuana and another bag believed to be methamphetamine was found. Cox allegedly confirmed to the deputies that the narcotics were his.

On the other side of the car, was another bag of what was believed to be marijuana which neither of the suspects admitted to it being theirs.

Justin Cox had an outstanding warrant in Roane County and was also charged with:

  • Man, Del, Sell or Possess Meth.
  • Simple Possession
  • Violation of the Seat Belt Law.

Daniel Ester was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, and Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance.

A total of 14 grams of marijuana in each bag and 3 grams of methamphetamine were seized. The narcotics were sent to the TBI lab to positively identify.
