SUSPECT IDENTIFIED AFTER PURSUIT ON HWY 68

On Sunday around 1:30 PM, Crossville City Police were in pursuit of the driver of a 2015 Chrysler eastbound on HWY 68. The driver was identified as 21-year-old Alexander Rice.

John Kiser and his wife were traveling in a van down HWY 68 when he saw the pursuit behind him and pulled to the right of the roadway around the Sawmill Road area. That’s when Alexander Rice’s car collided with the rear of the vehicle. However, Rice kept traveling eastbound.

A city police officer overtook and passed the wrecked van, and was able to maneuver right and block Mr. Rice’s vehicle. Mr. Rice rammed into the police car and got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

He was captured shortly after. Mr. Rice’s passengers, 19-year-old Meghan Fitzgerald, and a 13-year-old juvenile were both reported to have injuries.

No other injuries were reported.
