TWO CRIMES ON SANDY CREEK ROAD, ONE SUSPECT COMMON TO BOTH

Thursday morning, a resident of Sandy Creek Road called Cumberland County deputies to say her brother had entered her home without permission and stolen two weapons – a black GV .380 pistol in a black holster and a Mossberg AR-22 .22 caliber rifle. She said he’d broken the deadbolt lock to gain access to the bedroom in which the guns were stored. She said her father confronted her brother, who was said to have admitted taking the guns. The woman also said she’d received a call saying her brother had tried to sell the pistol.

Less than four hours later, another Sandy Creek Road woman called Cumberland County deputies to report her 2003 Hyundai stolen from her driveway. She said she’d had the hood up and the keys in the ignition and had just put in power-steering fluid; when she went into the house to get ready to leave for town, she heard the vehicle start up and moments later saw it speeding away. She called her husband, who made contact with the vehicle headed toward White County, but lost sight of it on Highway 70 West. Two suspects have been identified and the vehicle has been entered in to the NCIC system.
