TWO CUMBERLAND COUNTY SCHOOLS LOCKED DOWN AFTER ROAD RAGE INCIDENT

Both Stone Memorial High and Stone Elementary were placed on soft lockdown this morning for cautionary reasons only after a man fired shots at someone on Short Road and then drove toward Stone Elementary school.  The shooter was apprehended and taken to jail quickly.

CROSSVILLE, TN – On Tuesday morning, August 22, 2023, Crossville Police Officers and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the area of East 1st Street, in reference to a road rage incident, where the possibility of a gunshot was reported in the area of Short Road. Crossville Police Department Officers and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of Stone Elementary School, where two suspects had been detained with a firearm in their possession by the Stone Elementary School Resource Officer.

There were no reported injuries from the incident and there is no further danger to the public.  Stone Elementary and Stone Memorial High School went on a lockdown during the incident.

The incident did not occur on, nor were any shots fired on any school grounds, but the vehicle was located at Stone Elementary School following the incident. This incident is actively under investigation at this time.
