TWO DECEASED IN ROANE COUNTY AS RESULT OF WINTER STORM
The Tennessee Department of Health says as of this morning (Monday, January 22, 2024), 27 individuals died as a result of the winter storm in the state.
Officials confirm two of them are in Roane County.
The first in the county was 75-year-old James Maynard in Rockwood. He attempted to thaw frozen pipes under his home on South Chamberlain Avenue when he had a medical issue and passed away.
Roane County EMA Director Tim Suter says the second death involved an elderly female found in the front yard of her home on Swan Pond Road in Harriman just before 8 a.m. yesterday (Sunday, January 21, 2024). The cause of death was ruled hypothermia.
The Tennessee Department of Health says deaths took place in 14 counties in the state, including four in Knox County and one each in Van Buren and Anderson County.
