TWO IN CUSTODY AFTER BLOUNT COUNTY PURSUIT

Two people led Blount County Deputies on a vehicle and foot chase before they were captured Sunday. According to reports, officers stopped a Chevrolet Impala at the intersection of Louisville and Topside Roads around 1 PM for a broken taillight. After deputies observed 29-year-old Kajuan Ray Young was not restrained, Young pulled away heading down Alcoa Highway. Young was said to have been seen running cars off the roadway and authorities ended the chase due to traffic conditions. Both Young and a passenger, 29-year-old Chuckisha Roleek Thomas jumped from the speeding Impala as it crashed into an embankment near Government Farm Road. The pair ran into the woods on foot and was later taken into custody. Young is charged with felony evading arrest, misdemeanor evading arrest, felony reckless endangerment, driving without a license, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, felony false report, violation of community corrections on a federal weapons charge, driving left of center, disregarding a stop sign, failure to wear a seat belt and an equipment violation (broken taillight). Thomas is charged with misdemeanor evading arrest and has outstanding warrants out of Blount and Knox Counties for violation of probation and child support.
