A two vehicle accident on I-40 in eastern Cumberland County yesterday left two injured. Trooper Bobby Barker says a 1999 Lexus LX370 operated by 70-year-old Cynthia Winfree of Cookeville became disabled in the right eastbound lane at the 339 mile marker when she was suddenly rear ended by a 2018 Nissan Versa driven by 47-year-old Melissa Redfield of Crossville. The report states Winfree was unable to get her vehicle off the interstate because of no shoulder in the construction zone. Winfree was taken by ambulance to Roane Medical Center while Redfield was transported to U.T. Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained.
