TWO MEN ARRESTED ON CHERRY BRANCH ROAD FOLLOWING NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION

Two local men were taken into custody late Sunday evening, September 6, 2026, after Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a narcotics investigation at a residence on Cherry Branch Road.
According to incident reports filed by Corporal Ethan Wilson, deputies arrived at Cherry Branch Road around 10:06 PM to perform a knock-and-talk. After receiving permission to enter the home, deputies observed a digital scale on a table containing a suspicious white residue.
During the interaction, one of the residents, 50-year-old Luther Eugene Boles, informed deputies that he was carrying a firearm in his waistband. Deputies safely removed the weapon—identified as a Beretta 9mm—and confirmed through dispatch that Boles is a convicted felon. A second firearm, a Glenfield Model .22 rifle with a cut-off stock, was also recovered as evidence. Boles was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of a firearm while committing a felony and unlawful possession of a weapon, with a court date set for October 19, 2026, and a $25,000 bond.
A second occupant, 44-year-old Jason Thomas Hyder, was also located inside the residence. A records check revealed an active, outstanding warrant for child support. Hyder was taken into custody on the warrant, which carries a $3,167 bond and a September 28 court date.
Both men were transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center following the operation led by Corporal Wilson, Deputy Charles, and Deputy Atkinson.
