A two vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Fentress County injured an elderly couple. Trooper William Looper says a 2012 Chevy Impala driven by 78-year-old Gerald Volkenand of Jamestown was traveling east on Highway 296 near Stephens Road. There is where he was hit by an oncoming Toyota Camry in his lane of travel. Volkenand and a passenger, 80-year-old Mary Volkenand of Jamestown, were both hurt. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says the Toyota was reported stolen and the driver fled the scene right after the accident. Charges are pending.
