TWO WOMEN CHARGED AFTER 3-YEAR-OLD WANDERS UNSUPERVISED FROM JAMESTOWN DAYCARE

Andrew McClung of WBIR reports that two women have been charged following an investigation after a 3-year-old boy, Dauysn Delk, wandered unsupervised from the L.B.J.&C. Head Start childcare center at the Jamestown Community Center on May 7th. According to authorities, the child was left unsupervised for about 15 minutes until a passerby noticed him and called police.

As a result, 54-year-old Michelle Phillips and 64-year-old Melinda Seay were arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and child abuse or neglect. Court documents indicate Seay claimed a safety gate had been placed to secure the door, but investigators determined this was not the case. Both women were booked into the Fentress County jail and later released on bond.

This incident marks the second time in recent months that a child has wandered away from the city community center.
