TWRA, STATE, U.S. AND POLK COUNTY CREWS SEARCH FOR MISSING KAYAKER IN POLK COUNTY

TWRA law enforcement officers, along with Polk County Fire and Rescue, Polk County EMA, Polk County Sheriff’s Department, State Parks Crews and U.S. Forest Service law-enforcement personnel, are searching for a lost kayaker on the Ocoee Number Three Lake, in the Tumbling Creek area.

The kayaker, a 68 year old man from Polk County, was reported missing yesterday, February 17 around 10 a.m. Eastern Time.

Search crews recovered a kayak, life jacket and a creel bucket containing fish. The search was called off yesterday at dark, due to unsafe conditions and resumed the search this morning at sunrise.

Crews are using a side scanner to search in water depths of nearly 25 feet.
