TWRA TO HOST FREE THREE-DAY TRAPPER-TRAINING CAMP FOR ALL AGES
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the Tennessee Fur Harvesters are hosting a free trapper-training camp March 15-17 at TWRA’s Hiwassee Refuge in Meigs County near the Hamilton County community of Birchwood.
The three-day camp will feature instruction including live trapline, fur handling, set making, snaring and trap modification, and is suitable for all ages.
Check-in and registration are Friday from 5-6:45 p.m. Saturday begins with breakfast at 7 a.m., with instruction throughout the day.
Three meals will be provided on Saturday, and breakfast will be provided Sunday. On-site primitive camping is available, and participants must provide their own camping gear, have appropriate clothing and bring note-taking materials. Hotels are located near the refuge.
