UPDATE: ROANE COUNTY BABY MAY HAVE OVERDOSED ON SUBOXONE; CHARGES PENDING

Charges are pending in the case of a one-year-old who may have overdosed on Suboxone, authorities say.

The Roane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Rockwood home January 31, where they found a child experiencing symptoms “not typical” for a child that age. They then discovered the baby may have ingested Suboxone, which is used in the treatment of opioid addiction.

The baby was flown to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital by Lifestar helicopter. The child’s identity and condition have not been released. Nor has the sheriff’s office released information on how the child might have obtained the drug.

The investigation is ongoing; the sheriff’s department is working with District Attorney General Russell Johnson and the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.
