U.T. VETERINARY MEDICINE HOLDS WORKSHOP IN MEMORY OF FALLEN CROSSVILLE K-9
The U.T. College of Veterinary Medicine held a workshop in memory of a fallen Crossville police K-9. Cain passed away after he was stabbed by a man on the run following a hit-and-run accident in a stolen vehicle two years ago. The workshop taught first responders how to provide life-saving first aid to a K9 until the animal can be cared for by a veterinarian. In Tennessee, under “Aron’s Law” it is a Class E felony to knowingly and unlawfully kill a dog that serves in law enforcement. The man who killed Cain, Dustin Lee Dixon, was sentenced to the maximum under law of 6 years in prison.
