A student was discovered bringing an unloaded BB gun inside a backpack at an Athens school Wednesday morning. An alert was sent out to parents by authorities after the gun was found carried by the male student at Athens Middle School just after 9:30 AM. News about the boy having the firearm is said to have traveled very quickly and students immediately reported it to school officials who retrieved and secured it. School Principal Mike Simmons says the student will be disciplined accordingly.
