UPDATE ON CONDITION OF CUMBERLAND COUNTY DEPUTY STRUCK BY CAR TUESDAY AFTERNOON
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has released the following update regarding the condition of Deputy Scott Iles, injured when he was hit by a car yesterday afternoon:
“Deputy Sheriff Scott Iles, School Resource Officer at North Cumberland Elementary School in Crossville, is at home this morning recovering from being struck by a vehicle while directing school traffic yesterday afternoon on Highway 127 North. Scott sustained injuries to his head which required well over 200 stitches, a cracked sternum, and damage to his knee. Scott is in good spirits and is missing his young friends at school. He was most appreciative for the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and support he received. Scott is expected to make a full recovery.”
1057 News spoke briefly with Iles a few minutes ago. Clearly, his sense of humor remains intact. “I feel like I been hit by a car,” he said, adding, “I’m doing fair.” He expressed gratitude for the prayers and good wishes, stating, “Prayers do help.”
