Volunteer Electric officials says a phone scam is targeting their customers in Crossville. The caller states that they will be disconnected unless they bring a specific amount of cash to Kroger to wire to the caller. The scammer, when asked for more information gave his name as John Sanchez and the number 800-789-2311. VEC will never ask to meet you at another location. VEC will not call threatening disconnection without notifying you by mail first. You can always call your local service center to check out anyone who states they are from VEC.
